The Bohemian Rhapsody Book Tag

Sorry, this post is late but both of us have been super busy with school work and revision but all is okay now because we both have finished our exams!! Yay!! We were tagged by the lovely Emma @TheBookishUnderdog to do the Bohemian Rhapsody Tag which she created, so we are super excited to post our answers to this   unique and interesting tag! I will link back to her original post here if you wish to check out her answers!

1. Mama, just killed a man – A fictional character’s death that really upset you?

Amy – Spoiler Alert! Pax from Red Rising. To me he was a big bundle of joy I would have loved to have seen more off and personally I didn’t think he needed to die! I apologise in advance, as I’m sure I’m going to mention this series a lot in this book tag as I’ve just finished reading the first two books.

Eleanor – Oh Finnick’s death in the Hunger Games really affected me! Ah it was just so sad and these were the first books that I read properly so it was my first character death and it was very painful!

2. Carry on, carry on – Pick a book that was hard to keep reading but was worth it in the end?

Amy – The Martian by Andy Weir. At first I found it hard to get into because of the science talk but I’m so glad I read it as it was such a funny read which I really enjoyed!!

Eleanor – More Than This by Patrick Ness, this book was really hard to keep reading but there was such an amazing twist and ending that made it all so worth it and I will recommend it to anyone!

3. Sends shivers down my spine – pick a book with a beautiful spine/cover?

Amy – My limited edition ‘Hunger Games’ Covers which are just stunning!! *heart eye emoji*

Eleanor – The Throne of Glass series (UK covers) are just so beautiful and look great on my bookshelf!

4. Goodbye everybody, I’ve got to go – A book that you couldn’t finish?

Amy – ‘Gone’ by Michael Grant. I don’t know why but I just didn’t connect or enjoy this book.

Eleanor – Beautiful Creatures, I struggled through the first book and tried the second but just couldn’t finish it, it just wasn’t my cup of tea!

5. Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very frightening – which book did you find very, very frightening?

Amy – I don’t normally read horror books but every time I read a book in the ‘Throne Of Glass’ Series, I am petrified that my favourite character is going to die!! Chaol better survive the next book!!

Eleanor – I really found some of the elements in the Mara Dyer books quite scary! It was the whole psychological thriller aspect that I loved but was a bit creepy!

6. Bismillah, no! We will not let you go – which book/series do you wish there had been more of?

Amy – A classic, but Harry Potter! I’m glad JK Rowling’s writing a sequel to the series but personally I really want her to write more prequels especially about The Marauders!!

Eleanor – I’m quite lucky as most of my favourite series are still being continued for are having a spin off series. But I’d love a little update on Katniss and Peeta to see what they’re doing and what their children are doing.

7. Mamma mia, mamma mia – which book/series should be made into a musical?

Amy – I would love to see, the ‘Shadow and Bone’ Trilogy as a musical, I don’t know why I chose this book but maybe it’s because I really want to see these books come to life!

Eleanor – I don’t think many of the books I’ve read would translate well in musical form, I keep having thoughts of a people like Celaena breaking out into a cheesy song it just makes me laugh!

8. The head banging bit – Which book made you face-palm?

Amy – This has to be the hardest question and honestly don’t have an answer! Possibly when a character makes a stupid decision but I can’t think of any!

Eleanor – I have read many books when characters have made stupid decisions… I think Mare Barrow made be face palm a bit during Glass Sword…

9. Oh baby, can’t do this to me, baby – pick a moment from a book where you felt like the author was being mean to you?

Amy – I’ve just finished reading ‘Golden Son’ by Pierce Brown and the emotions I experienced after finishing it were overwhelming and for the last 50 pages I felt like my heart was being ripped out! If you haven’t read the ‘Red Rising’ series yet you are seriously missing out!!

Eleanor – I felt that Cassandra Clare was a bit mean during all of Jem’s issues during the Clockwork series, although it made for a cracking story, it was painful!

10. Nothing really matters to me – which character/s did you not care about?

Amy – There aren’t any characters that I don’t care about but I had to read ‘The Kite Runner’ for school once and I remember hating Amir the protagonist so much!

Eleanor – Oh I really hated Professor Umbridge in Harry Potter, I think it was the 5th book? I hated her so much!

Mean Girls Book Tag

I don’t think we’ve ever been so excited to do a tag before but jeez were we excited to do this tag! We were nominated by the lovely @Calliopethebookgoddess and we recommend you go follow her blog and check out her answers too!

1. “It’s pronounced like Cady” – Which fictional character’s names did you get completely wrong?

Amy: Eleanor and I had a good laugh about this answer and I’ve probably stolen what she wanted to say too, but Chaol (Kay-all) from the Throne of Glass Series! We both had different ways of pronouncing this and it wasn’t until we met Sarah till we learned of the true pronunciation!

Eleanor: *Darn it Amy stole my answer!* To be fair though that was pretty funny, Amy pronounced it as ‘Cal’ and I would pronounce it ‘Coal’. We would have petty arguments about it but it turned out we were both wrong!

2. “She doesn’t even go here!” – Which character would you like to place in a fictional world from another book or series?

Amy: I would love to put Celaena Sardothien into the Shadow World, with Emma Carstairs as I could see those two getting along really well! And just think of the fight scenes they would have together!! Badass!

Eleanor: I think Ruby from the darkest minds series could so amazing things with Cassie from The 5th Wave! I don’t know why but I feel they would get on well as they both have quite a maternal instinct with Sam and Zu!

3. “On Wednesdays we wear pink!” – Repetition. Repetition. Which book gave you dejavu of another book whilst reading it?

Amy: Red Rising by Pierce Brown and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins! Both very similar but that didn’t put me off loving either of the books as each had their unique elements!

Eleanor: I can’t really think of much… the only thing that comes to mind is the book ‘The Giver’ and ‘Delirium’ as they both had very controlling elements eg. not getting to choose who you marry ect.

4. “You all have got to stop calling each other sluts and wh****. It just makes it okay for guys to call you sluts and wh***.” – Which book gave you the complete opposite of girl power feels?

Amy: The Duff by Kody Keplinger. I hated Bianca in this book as I just found her rude and annoying. There is also the fact that Bianca ditches her friends in favour of getting laid. I understand she needs an escape from her problems, but has she ever heard the saying ‘chicks before dicks!’

Eleanor: I’m glad to say I don’t think I have read a book like this! (thank goodness!!)

5. “You go Glen Coco!” – Name a character you felt like you wanted to cheer on whilst reading.

Amy: I am currently reading Lady Midnight and I have fallen in love even more with Emma Carstairs as she is such a bad ass but at the same time is very kind and caring! God, I love her!

Eleanor: Ohh it has to be Simon Lewis early on in The Mortal Instruments series when he was trying to impress Clary but Jace kept getting in the way, of course I ship Clace but Simon is just so cute!

6. “Get in loser, we’re going shopping!” How long do you typically spend at a book shop?

Amy: I don’t usually spend ages in a book shop or even go to book shops very often as I do most of my buying on Amazon! But we once both went to the Waterstones in Birmingham and spent ages looking at books and chatting with the staff and I had such a good time! Something I want to do again soon!

Eleanor: I don’t spend too long either! As much as I would love to, the people I would shop with would probably get bored and annoyed! I usually spend about 20 mins (if I’m lucky!)

7. “It’s not my fault you’re like in love with me or something!” – Which character would have to get out a restraining order on you, if they were real?

Amy: Chaol Westfall from the Throne Of Glass Series! He’s just perfect and if Celaena doesn’t want Chaol, I’ll gladly have him!

Eleanor: Oh goodness, any of the Shadowhunter boys, Jace, Will, Jem and Julian!

8. “I can’t help it that I’m popular.” – Which overhyped book were you cautious about reading?

Amy: Red Rising by Pierce Brown. Apologies as I keep repeating the same books over and over again but I went into this book not knowing anything and I had heard so many good things about and I was worried I wasn’t going to enjoy it! But lucky I did!

Eleanor: If I’m honest, any John Green book, I always end up disappointed (please don’t hate me!)

9. “She’s a life ruiner. She ruins peoples lives.” – We all love Regina George. Name a villian you just love to hate.

Amy: The Darkling from the Shadow and Bone Series. He’s gorgeous but deadly!

Eleanor: Maven – Glass Sword, although I wasn’t overly impressed with the book, I really did love to hate Maven!

10. “I’m not like a regular Mom, I’m a cool Mom.” – Your favourite fictional parents.

Amy: Mr and Mrs Lancaster from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Both of them are really supportive but are also so down to earth as well as always knowing exactly what to say!

Eleanor: The Weasley parents from Harry Potter are just the best! I love them so much!

11. “That is so Fetch!” – Which book or series would you love to catch on?

Amy: I have to agree with Calliope here, with the Penryn and the End of Days Series by Susan Ee! I loved this series and I thought it had a really unique storyline and plot and I do remember this book going through a phase when it was really popular but now I feel like it’s been a bit forgotten! Go read this series, I will leave my review here!

Eleanor: I don’t know if this has already caught on? But I think the Mara Dyer books are great, especially if you love a psychological thriller!

12. “How do I even begin to explain Regina George?” – Describe your ideal character to read about.

Amy: I am a sucker for badass and sassy characters (Celaena Sardothien) but I also love characters who develop and grow throughout a series/book.

Eleanor: A really strong, confident, witty character but is also really loving and vulnerable!

13. “I just have a lot of feelings.” – What do you do when a book gives you a bad case of ‘the feels’?

Amy: Any contemporary, especially by Stephanie Perkins, Morgan Matson or Huntley Fitzpatrick. All their books and characters are so cute and the storyline never fails to make me cry!

Eleanor: Any lovey dovey book, I know it’s for a younger demographic but Girl Online by Zoe Sugg was really cute! (well I thought so anyway)

14. “Nice wig Janice, what’s it made of?” “Your Mom’s chest hair!” – Which characters one liners would you love to claim for your own?

Amy: Sevro from Red Rising. His banter with other characters and one liners never fail to make me laugh but they are quite rude!

Eleanor: Anything said by either Jace, Simon or Emma Carstairs from the Shadowhunter world!

15. “Boo, you wh***.” – Name a time a characters decision has made you roll your eyes?

Amy: I genuinely can’t think of any character, there’s always one but at this moment in time my mind has gone blank! Sorry!

Eleanor: Oh jeeze! Anything Mare did in Glass Sword, she irritated me SO much!

We hope you enjoyed our answers and we tag anyone who hasn’t yet done this tag and want’s to have a go at it!

Soundtrack To My Life Book Tag

Thank you Charley @bookinnerd who nominated us for this tag and I recommend you go and check out her blog. I haven’t seen this tag before but when I read the questions I thought that it was such a good idea and couldn’t wait to get on and answer the questions! So lets get on with the tag…

Opening Credits: favourite childhood book:

Amy: ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’ by Michael Morpurgo. I don’t know what it was about this book but I just remember loving this book and always raving about it!

Eleanor: How young are we talking here? Because my favourite children’s book from when I was really young is hands down ‘The Gruffalo’! I used to get my dad to read it to me every night before I went to bed and by the time I was about 6/7 years old I could recite all the words!

Waking up: A book that got you out of a reading slump:

Amy: ‘The Selection’ Series. These books are so easy to read that I could happily pick up any book from the series and it would throw me out of my reading slump. But I’m currently suffering from a reading slum myself and I’ve already read all the books in the series, so if anyone has any good recommendations please let me know!

Eleanor: This is actually really recent! The book that has got me out of a serious reading slump has been ‘The Darkest Minds’ by Alexandra Bracken, it is so exciting and I’m currently reading the second book (which has already been reviewed) but I got the third for my birthday so all is good!

School: A book that you ended up reading for school and ended up loving it:

Amy: It’s more a play than a book but I picked ‘The Crucible’ which is a play we had to study for GCSE English. For those who don’t know it is a play about the Salem Witch Trials that took place in Massachusetts during 1692 and 1693. Again, I don’t know why I loved this play but I reckon it was because of the ideas of witches and the mystery behind everything.

Eleanor: I don’t think I have ever loved a book that I had to read in school, but one that I remember that wasn’t too bad was ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar.

Falling In Love: An author you love so much you want to read all of their books:

Amy: Sarah J Maas!! I can complet a tag without mentioning her name, as I just love her work and writing so much! Plus who’s excited for ‘A Court of Mist and Fury’!! I know I am!

Eleanor: Now this is an interesting question, because at first I was going to say Cassandra Clare, but I honestly don’t know if I would read a book by Cassie that isn’t in the Shadowhunter world… So I’m going to have to agree with my partner in crime here and say Sarah J Maas.

Fight: Book with the best action sequences:

Amy: Sorry for mentioning Sarah J Maas again but the book with the best fight scenes has to be any book in the ‘Throne Of Glass’ Series as each book is packed full of action and never leaves a dull moment!

Eleanor: I can’t decide here between ‘Throne of Glass’ (plus the rest of the series) and ‘The Mortal Instruments’, they both have some kick ass fighting scenes, but I always skim over the fight scenes so quickly because they’re always so fast paced!

Break up: A book or series you didn’t finish and do not intend to finish:

Amy: ‘Gone’ Series by Michael Grant. I didn’t even make it half way into the first book but it just wasn’t my cup of tea!

Eleanor: Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. I really didn’t enjoy the first book and I have no intention whatsoever to finish it.

Hanging with friends: A book that you think everyone should read:

Amy: I restrained myself from mentioning Sarah J Maas again but instead I chose ‘Life on the Refrigerator Door’ by Ali Kuipers which is such an incredible book which no doubtfully make you cry!

Eleanor: Everyday by David levithan, this was such a lovely book and it has a really strong message about how we should never judge a book by its cover!

Breakdown: Book that seriously affected you or had you crying your eyes out:

Amy: ‘Second Chance Summer’ by Morgan Matson. From reading the first chapter in this book I knew I was going to end up crying at the end which I did, and I cried a lot! And to make it even worse I was on the plane coming home from a holiday so everyone kept looking at me! Oh the struggles!

Eleanor: ‘If You Find Me’ by Emily Murdoch, this book really shocked and touched me! It was so intimate and touched on some serious subjects which were wrote in a beautiful way!

Road Trip: Your favorite series (more than 3 books):

Amy: Throne of Glass Series!! I’m sorry that I keep mentioning this book, but seriously if you haven’t read this series yet what are you doing with your life!!

Eleanor: I think this is fairly obvious, ‘The Mortal Instruments Series’ without a doubt!

Flashback: Your favorite book from 5 years ago:

Amy: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Certainly one of my favourites from the series and I remember my younger self feeling so proud when I finished that book!

Eleanor: Can we argue that ‘The Hunger Games’ was 5 years ago? It must be because I read it when I was 12/13 and I’m now 18… so The Hunger Games!

Getting Back Together: A book you can’t stop rereading:

Amy: ‘Eagle in the Sky’ by Wilbur Smith. This is my favourite book in the whole entier world; it’s just perfect. Even though I know what happens, this book never fails to make me smile or cry waterfalls!

Eleanor: I do find it hard to re-read books, so I don’t think there are many books that I’ve read more than once, although I have to admit that the Harry Potter books never get old!

Moment of Triumph: Longest book you’ve ever read:

Amy: ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ by George R R Martin. That is a big ass book!

Eleanor: It must be ‘City of Heavenly Fire’ by Cassandra Clare which is the last book in ‘The Mortal Instruments’ series, and fun fact, I read all 700+ pages in 4 days! (which is a record for me because I am a very slow reader!

Death Scene: Book or series you wish had ended differently:

Amy: ‘Allegiant’ by Veronica Roth. It sounds mean but I found the last book really disappointing and as much as I want to watch the movie adaptation, it looks really poor and completely different to the books!

Eleanor: ‘Paper Towns’ by John Green, it was just a bit rubbish wasn’t it? (well in my opinion any way)

Funeral: Book with the best or worst epilogue:

Amy: ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ by J K Rowling. Some people were disappointed with the ending but I thought it was a perfect ending to a perfect series and I can’t wait for ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’!

Eleanor: I quite like epilogues because I am a massive sucker for a happy ending! So I’m going to leave this one to my good friend Amy here because, in my opinion, there is never a bad epilogue.

End Credits: Who do you tag?

Top 5 Fictional Couples

Valentines Day is upon us once again and it’s time to think about to whom you’re going to profess your undying love for. Last year, we listed our top 5 fictional boyfriends which can be found here, but this year we thought we would list our favourite fictional couples!

Any couple from ‘Lunar Chronicles’ – I swear every relationship in this series is perfect and that each couple were made for each other! If I had to pick a favourite it would have to be Thorne and Cress, as they are both really cute and Cress always saw the good and believed in Thorne even when he didn’t; she changed him.

Any couple from the ‘Throne of Glass’ Series Queen of Shadows left me with so many new and exciting ships!!! I wasn’t totally with the whole Rowena ship but after this book I am the captain of that ship and 100% supporting it. Two other ships that were hinted in the book, were between Lysandra and Aedion and between Manon and Dorian! However it is the relationship with Chaol and Nesryn, I’m a little unsure of and it’s probably because I have a huge fictional crush on Chaol and I think me and him would be a way better ship!

Anna and St Clair from ‘Anna and the French Kiss – They are just so cute and have the perfect relationship! I’m very jealous!

Jase and Sam from ‘My Life Next Door’ -Again another perfect relationship which developed hugely throughout the book. Jase changed and help bring Sam out of her shell so she could really experience life! The conversation and banter between them also never failed to make me laugh!

Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett from ‘Pride and Prejudice’ – I don’t think, this needs a explanation.

The Jessa/Wessa love triangle from ‘The Infernal Devices’ – When reading these books I could never decide who would be better for Tessa as both boys were equally gorgeous, committed and head over heels in love with Tessa, what more can a girl as for?!? Of course you all know I have a soft spot for Will Herondale but that is mainly because he loves books and is tall with dark hair and dreamy blue eyes… which happens to be exactly my type!

Eleanor and Park from ‘Eleanor and Park’ – This relationship is just adorable! What I love about this was that it was unexpected from both sides and shows that love really works in mysterious ways! It was also a somewhat forbidden love story which everyone is a sucker for.

Rosie and Alex from ‘Love, Rosie (Where Rainbows End)’ – This was a book full of mistakes I hope I will never make, all the almosts and not quites are agonizing and it is blindingly obvious that these two were meant to be together but circumstances meant they were constantly being pulled apart! Although it does mean that the end is even more satisfying!

Katniss and Peeta from ‘The Hunger Games’ – I don’t think this needs much explaining, they’re perfect together and I bet their children are adorable! They’ve both been through a lot and deserve to be together!

Penny and Noah from ‘Girl Online’ – I love this relationship mainly because I’m jealous of Penny… I mean who wouldn’t want to date a rock star (Shawn Mendes or James McVey to name but a few)

Our Life in Books Tag

We’ve seen this tag floating around the blogging community and thought the questions and the idea behind the tag was a really unique and interesting idea! We recommend if you haven’t done this tag, you do as it’s good fun!

1) Find a book for each of your initials

I thought this question was going to be difficult because I couldn’t think of any books! But then I looked at my bookcase I was like oh yeah, also I want sure if this included middle names… so I’m going to include it anyway…
Eleanor- Endgame- James Frey
Grace- Gone – Michael Grant
Carter- Crown of Midnight – Sarah J Maas

Amy – Allegiant – Veronica Roth
Jane – Just One Day – Gale Forman
Whittaker – Warm Bodies – Isaac Marion

2) Count your age along your book shelf- which book is it?

This is actually one of the first books I ever read, I used to read these books with my dad to improve my reading when I was in Primary School, and the book is Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone – JK Rowling.

17 (almost 18!!!!!) A classic and one of my favourites ‘Throne of Glass’ by Sarah J Maas. I am literally obsessed with this series as it is filled with magic, badass characters and a killer plot! If you haven’t yet read this series, you are seriously making a huge mistake and need to read it asap!

3) Pick a book set in your city/state/country.

I literally live in the middle of nowhere, however I’m fairly sure that the inspiration for J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle Earth came from the countryside around Gloucestershire and Worcestershire… please correct me if I’m wrong!

I’m going with similar lines to Eleanor and linking it with Tolkein with one of his good friends C.S.Lewis! A local urban myth says that Lewis was inspired by one of the famous gas lamps here in Malvern. Lewis and Tolkein were good friends and used to walk on the Malvern hills. The story goes that, after drinking in a Malvern pub one winter evening, they were walking home when it started to snow. They saw a lamp post shining out through the snow, and Lewis turned to his friends and said ‘that would make a very nice opening line to a book’. And so it did.

4) Pick a book that represents a destination you would love to travel to.

I’m just going to say HOGWARTS, it’s not exactly a destination but it’s like my dream.

Anna and the French Kiss! And hopefully my wish will come true this October as I might be going to Paris for my 18th!! Fingers Crossed!

5) Pick a book that’s your favourite colour.

I LOVE the colour on the back of Heir of Fire by Sarah J Maas, that greeny blue colour is just lush! (that’s on the UK cover edition…)

My Hunger Games Foil Luxe Editions! I can’t pick a favourite out of the three as they are all equally beautiful and if I have to say look stunning on my shelf! But I also agree with Eleanor as the Throne of Glass covers are all beautiful too!

6) Which book do you have the fondest memories of?

You all know what I’m going to say…. The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. I had such a great time reading my favourite series for the first time and I wish I could read them again without knowing what happens!

A classic which is the ‘Harry Potter Series’ as it brings back so many lovely childhood memories of my parents reading it to me and dressing up as the characters!

7) Which book did you have the most difficulty reading?

Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith… it was just too weird and I disagreed with everything the characters decided to do so it was really frustrating!

‘Gone’ by Michael Grant. I just found it really boring and only made it four chapters in. Apologies to everyone who enjoyed this book but it wasn’t my cup of tea!

8) Which book in your TBR pile will give you the biggest sense of accomplishment when you finish it?

Every time I’m asked about my TBR pile I seem to instantly forget all that’s on it… this is going to sound a little odd but I’ve never read the twilight books… I’m sure I will really enjoy them because I love that kind of genre but I’m reluctant because of the films and the size and length of the books! But if I finished the whole series them I’m pretty sure I would feel a sense of accomplishment.

‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ by George R.R Martin! I managed to read the first two books in the series but as the series went on the books became bigger and bigger which made me feel quiet intimidated. But I want to keep reading the series as I am a huge fan of the TV show!

The Inside Out Book Tag

We were taged by the wonderful Lucia over at ‘Reading With Lucia’ so a massive thank you is owed to her as this was such a fun but difficult tag! If you haven’t yet done this tag do give it a go as we really enjoyed doing it and we’re sure you will too! I’m afraid i haven’t yet seen the film but it looks really cute and funny!

A book that brings you joy:

Amy: (Aside from the Throne of Glass Series) I would have to pick ‘Rebel Belle’ by Rachel Hawkins! It is such a easy and funny read and her characters are also fab and never fail to bring a smile to my face! I am really looking forward to reading the second book in the series soon!

Eleanor: I’m going to say Everyday by David Levithan. It’s just so cute and it really restored my faith in humanity! It made me so happy to read!

A book that makes you angry:

Amy: This is a bit of a controversial answer but please don’t be offended but for this question I picked ‘Mockingjay’ by Suzanne Collins. I was more disappointed than angry as I thought the first two books were brilliant but the third let the series down. As for the movies though, I think they are doing a brilliant job and I’m glad they split the movie as for me it means they can include all the important events from the book (which I thought was rushed) into the film.

Eleanor: It didn’t really make me angry but Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith… it just really annoyed me with the decisions that the characters made and just their general conversations were just infuriating!

A book that made you sad:

Amy: I’ve read too many books that have made me cry from Harry Potter to Allegiant. But recently I read ‘Second Chance Summer’ by Morgan Matson and I was a wreck. I cried and cried my eyes out in the last chapter, it was terrible. I recently wrote a review on the book, which you can check out here!

Eleanor: I said it in a previous tag but The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, I cried buckets and it was interesting to hear a story from a German perspective rather than a British perspective, and what we did during WWII not just Germany.

A book that disgusts you:

Amy: Fifty Shades of Grey. I don’t think this needs explaining.

Eleanor: I have to second the opinion of my good friend there!

A book that brings you fear:

Amy: It’s not so a book but a character and I picked ‘Gone Girl’. The character ‘Amy’ is scary as hell and gave me the heebie-jeebies! I don’t usually read a lot of horror novels but I might have to start reading a few more. If you’ve got any recommendations please let me know!

Eleanor: It wasn’t proper fear but the Mara Dyer books creeped me out a bit, although I did love them! If they weren’t creepy then it wouldn’t be nearly as good!

Thank you Lucia for once again nominating us to do this fab tag!

The Emoji Book Tag

I was so pleased when we were nominated to do this tag and we would both like to give a huge thanks to Raven over at ‘Dreamy Addictions’ for nominating us! For me, I use so many emoji’s everyday, so combing books with emoji’s was a brilliant idea!!

Amy’s Answers

Heart Eyes – A book/series that I absolutely love! persons-0007

Well, this was an easy choice and if many of you know me well enough you would have already guessed my choice! It’s the Throne of Glass Series! I love this series and it’s characters and we are both currently making our way through Queen Of Shadows!! It’s so good!

persons-0057Smirk Face – A book with a good looking cast!

Again I would have to choose any book by Sarah J Maas as she has some good looking men in her books whether it’s in her ‘Throne of Glass Series’ or ‘ACOTAR Series’! Chaol, Dorian, Tamlin AND Rhysand! Swoon!

Waterfall Tears – A book that had me crying bucket-loads!!persons-0024

I would have to pick my favourite book ‘Eagle in the Sky’ by Wilbur Smith. It is a tragic romance novel which had my crying at every page. It is a beautiful story about the love and the power it has.

Shocked Face – A book with a killer plot twist!persons-0033_large

‘Red Queen’ has to be my choice for this and for obvious reasons if you’ve read the book!! I certainly didn’t expect what happened! Who else though is excited for the next book in the series ‘Glass Sword’?!

Cute Smile – A book which made me all cute and fluffy inside!persons-0005

I would have to pick one of my favourite contemporary’s ‘Anna and the French Kiss’. This is such a cute book with lovely characters and a beautiful storyline

Eleanor’s Answers

I don’t actually have emojis on my phone but I’ll do faces I do use a lot.

😀 – this is my favourite face/ emoji to use, I use it on every message (more or less) and it just makes me happy. So the book I’m going to assign to this is actually a series (because why not) and that is The Mortal Instruments series because we all know that is my favourite series and I just love it.

😉 – I’ll use the wink face when I’m being a bit cheeky, so the book I’m going to assign to this is what I call a guilty pleasure, one that I feel some people don’t like, but I still love it and that is Girl Online by Zoe Sugg.

🙂 – this is the face I use when I’m pretending to be happy about something that I’m not. Because of this I’m going to assign s book that I was really excited to read but was disappointed with and that is Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.

😦 – I use this emoji when I’m sad (obviously) so I’m going to assign a book that made me sad but not sad enough to cry and that is Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell.

😥 – I use this one quite rarely, but this is when I’m really sad. So I’m going to assign a book that genuinely made me cry (like tears rolling down my face cry, not just a few tears) and that is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

BFF Book Tag

I can’t believe it’s taken us this long to do such a wonderful tag and we would like to thank and apologise for it’s lateness to Chantal at CKsReadingCorner! Being BFF ourselves and bookworms, this tag feels like it was certainly meant and created for us! So without further ado, lets begin

1. Setting the Example: A pair/group of book bff’s that you love?

A: It’s a classic answer but I love the ‘Golden Trio’ which is Harry, Ron and Hermione. Together they’ve encountered numerous adventures, all with their fair share of ups and downs but they’ve always stuck together.

E: I’m going to say Jace and Alec because it’s unpredictable and therefore always exciting… also they have wonderful conversations such as…
Alec Lightwood: ” I did not make pie for three reasons. One, because I do not have pie ingredients. Two, because I don’t actually know how to make a pie.”
Jace Herondale: “And three?”
Alec Lightwood: “Because I am not your bitch.”

2. Childhood Bestie: Which book character would you have like to grow up with?

A: Scarlet from the Lunar Chronicals as she such as badass and brave character who at the same time is kind and caring. I would have loved to have grown up with her.

E: it’s not so much as a single character but I would have LOVED to have grown up in the Weasley family!

3. Frenemy: Which book character would bring out your competitive side?

A: Celaena Sardothian!

E: Ditto ^^

4. Fashion Guru: Who would be the bestie whose closet you’d want to raid or would you want to go on a shopping spree with?

A: Harper Jane Price, she sounds like she knows a lot about fashion and has a great sense of style.

E: Rosie Dunn

5. The Bad Influence: Which character would you want to commit a small act of rebellion with? (go skinny dipping, sneak into a movie, have a drag race with, etc.)

A: Tris Prior or Jace Wayland

E: Margo Roth Spiegelman

6. Blood Brothers: Which character would you want to be your surrogate big brother/sister? (You can do both if you want)

A: Feyre from ‘A Court Of Thorns and Roses’ because she cares so much for her sisters even thought they treat her like dirt.

E: I think Jace Wayland would be a wicked big brother!

7. Mother Hen: Which character would you want to be by your side when you’re having a bad day to cheer you up?

A: America Singer. In ‘The Heir’ she certainly plays the role of a mother really well but I also think her as a young adult she is still a kind and caring person who would know how to cheer someone up.

E: Molly Weasley

8. The Counselor: Which character would you go to for relationship advice (or) confide a secret to?

A: Eowyn from ‘The Lord Of The Rings’ trilogy as I feel like she would be really good a keeping a secret and understand it’s importance as a secret.

E: Cinna

9. More than friends: Who would be your book bf/ gf (if you like both genders you can choose one of each, but only one choice per gender!)

A: Chaol!!! He is strong but sweet. His relationship with Celina is so real and the way he acts towards her is so romantic!

E: Will Herondale (swoon!)

This was such a fun tag to do and thank you again to Chantal at CKsReadingCorner for not only nominating us but creating this tag! We nominate anyone who likes the sound of this tag and it’s questions.

Booktube-a-thon – 2015 TBR

It’s that time of year again and the annual summer booktube-a-thon is upon us again! Never have I ever participated in a read-a-thon but the idea sounds like great fun and I thought why not give it a go! The Booktube-a-thon is a read-a-thon hosted mainly on Youtube but I thought I would do it here on our blog. You can check out the official video and channel here.

The Booktube-a-thon runs from the 3rd – 9th August and the aim is to read severn books which match the challenges given. The challenges include 7 book-related tasks (that can be combined) to set up your to-read list.

Here are the 2015 challenges:

  1. Read a book with blue on the cover
  2. Read a book by an author who shares the same first letter of your last name
  3. Read someone else’s favorite book
  4. Read the last book you acquired
  5. Finish a book without letting go of it
  6. Read a book you really want to read
  7. Read seven books

My TBR consist of…

1. The Assassins Blade – Sarah J Maas

I am a huge fan of Sarah J Maas and I usually wizz through her books really quickly, so I thought it would be a good pick for a read-a-thon! Plus its got a lot of blue on the cover!

2. A House Somewhere – Various Authors

Finding an author on my book shelf with a surname beginning with ‘W’ I thought would have been easy but I thought wrong! So this is a bit of a cheat, I picked this book because it contained a load of short stories, some of which are written by authors with surnames beginning with ‘W’. I also have to read this as a part of my English course next year so why not read it now.

3. Clockwork Angel – Cassandra Clare

This is my sisters favourite book, and finally after years of pestering and persuasion, I’m going to give this series a go! I loved her ‘Mortal Instruments’ series and the ‘Shadowhunter’ world so I have high hopes for this series too!

4. Talon – Julie Kagawa

After receiving ‘Rouge’ on Net Gallery, I decided to pick up the first one in the series in ‘The Works’ for only £1.99!! Bargain. I myself love dragons and everything to do with them so when I heard about this book I nearly freaked out and now can’t wait to read it.

5. David Golder – Irene Nemirovsky

Irene Nemirovsky is one of my newly found and adored authors! After reading her most famous book ”Suite Française” (which I highly recommend to everyone), I wanted to read more of her work. ‘David Golder’ is only 150 pages so it’s a nice short read which I hopefully won’t be able to put down.

6. Siege and Storm – Leigh Bardugo

I read ‘Shadow and Bone’ about a year ago and really enjoyed it. I’ve also heard so many good things about this series and have had many people recommend it to me!

7. Amy and Rodgers Epic Detour – Morgan Matson

Dependant on time, I do hope to read this but if not I’m sure I will read it when on my travels later this year. At the moment, I’m feeling a contemporary kick.

Being my first read-a-thon, I doubt I will be able to complete all the challenges but I hope to complete as many as possible. Again, I hope to post daily updates to track my progress or maybe post a summary post at the end of the week! Let me know if you are also participating in the BookTubeAThon and what you plan to read! Good luck!
