To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before – Cast and Trailer Reaction

First things first, when did this happen? I literally just stumbled onto Jenny Han’s Instagram and discovered that they’re making her much-loved series into a film and they’ve already announced the cast and everything! Seriously, have I been living under a rock or something? The wonderful thing is that the film is being released on the 17th August on Netflix which means that I can sit in bed with a big bowl of popcorn and watch it, yay!

I’m probably the only one who didn’t know about this film but I thought I’d react to the casting and trailer anyway and hopefully, there’s someone out there like me who had no idea that one of the best YA contemporary series is being made into a movie.

Trailer Reaction

I am living for this trailer! Everything about it reflects what I love about the books, the cuteness, the hilarity and just how heartwarming these characters and this story truly is. If you haven’t read these books, please do because they are the perfect summer read and I can guarantee that you will fall in love with them. Some of my favourite moments in the trailer are the scene with Lara Jean and Josh in the field and of course the glimpse we get of the hot tub scene with Peter!

Casting Reaction

Lara Jean Covey: Lara Condor – This is exactly how I envisioned Lara Jean, Lara Condor fits the part perfectly. She’s got that beautiful, caring and innocent look and I think the casting directors did a fab job picking her! I loved her in X-Men Apocolypse but this role is very different and I’m excited to see her bring one of my favourite contemporary characters to life.

Peter Kavinsky: Noah Centineo – When I first saw pictures of him I was a bit skeptical but after seeing him in the trailer my opinions are completely changed! I’m now in love with this casting as he’s definitely got that cute and cocky look just like Peter! I honestly can’t wait to see how they portray the relationship between Peter and Lara Jean and I’m keeping all my fingers crossed that they include a baking scene because how cute would that be?!

Josh Sanderson: Israel Broussard – Perfect! He’s so cute and has the boy next door kinda look which I am loving! The casting of Josh and Lara are probably my favorites, they’re both so accurate and exactly how I pictured them!

John Ambrose McClaren: Jordan Burtchett – This is another one I struggled with as I always pictured him as a blonde but the more I look at him, the more I see him as John Ambrose! Still mixed feelings though but nevertheless I look forward to seeing him on screen!

Kitty Covey: Anna Cathcart – Kitty is one of the most important characters in the film, so I was super excited and nervous to see who they had cast and if they would live up to Kitty’s vivacious and sassiness!

Margot Covey: Janel Parish – I loved her in Pretty Little Liars but I can’t stop seeing her as Mona, whose character is a complete contrast to Margot! But despite that, I’m totally getting that caring yet serious vibe from her and I just can’t wait to see how all the Song sisters interact with each other.

Thor: Ragnarok – Trailer Reaction

thor

You can watch the trailer here.

My sister and I are huge fans of the Marvel Universe and of Thor in general because who doesn’t love Chris Hemsworth and these movies are always packed with action, humor and badass fight scenes. I love the elements of 80s sci-fi movies mixed with your typical full-blooded MCU spectacle which is giving me ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ vibes! There’s a lot in there for such a short teaser, but it never feels like we’re being force-fed too much information instead it’s just making more excited for this film.

I had mixed feelings about Thor’s new look because I was a huge fan of the long hair but I’m warming to the new short hair and it feels like he’s gotten funnier! We see a glimpse of Loki as well and fingers crossed we get to see more of him in this film! And the Hulk! I loved that final scene but now I want to know more about how he ended up in the same situation as Thor! It’s about time we had a villain introduced into the MCU with Earth-shattering potential and it looks like Cate Blanchett’s Hela fills this position. Not only do we get an immediate sense of her mythology thanks to the flashbacks, we also get a firm promise of how powerful she is – she can’t just wield Thor’s hammer, she can shatter it like a toy which hasn’t been seen before.

All in all, I am super excited for this film, can’t it be October already?

Game of Thrones Season 7: The Long Walk – Trailer Reaction

You can watch the trailer here!

OMG, this just got released a couple of hours ago and I’m still freaking out! I’m so excited for this season after the ending of season 6 as so many things are going to happen and many of our beloved characters are finally going to meet; it’s going to be an action-packed series I can already tell. I was disappointed when it was revealed that there would be fewer episodes and that we would have to wait until July to watch them but I’m sure they are going to be worth the wait and in my opinion have never made a bad episode! Fingers crossed! From the trailer, we see three of the biggest characters in the show, Cersei, Daenerys and Jon Snow marching through the darkness to James’ seminal hit Sit Down so does this mean that the final ruler of Westeros has come down to a three-horse race? I have to say though each one of them looked very fierce and badass and I wouldn’t want to come between any of them! But the trailer ended with a close up of the Night King, does this ominous final nod suggest they must soon unite against a common enemy? Who knows! I’ve got so many questions, can’t it be July already!

I don’t know about anyone else but I loved the backing track of James hit Sit Down because even though it’s completely different to the much-loved Game of Thrones soundtrack, it suited the whole concept of each ruler sitting down on their throne which I thought was very clever.

What did you guys think and who are you most excited to see in Season 7?

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales – Trailer Reaction

You can watch the trailer here!

I am a huge fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and when they announced the fifth and final film, I got super excited but also really sad! They recently released a teaser trailer but now they’ve finally released the first proper look at the film and from what we’re shown it’s definitely going to be an action-packed adventure. The special effects are just brilliant and they look just as good as the ones used in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End’ however I’m not sure how I feel about the CGI young Jack Sparrow! I love how we’re thrown back into the wonderful world of the Caribbean with a completely new storyline and set of characters like Carina (Kaya Scodelario) and Henry (Brenton Thwaites) who remind me of a young Will and Elizabeth! The chemistry and banter between all the characters (new and old) look brilliant and there were elements in the trailer and conversations that I found really funny so I’m glad that these movies haven’t lost their humour! Finally, that soundtrack never gets old and as soon as I heard it I got slightly emotional because this is the last film, but I’m sure they’re going to end it with a bang! Let me know what you thought of the trailer in the comments below!

Everything, Everything – Trailer Reaction

befunky-collage

I read this book ages ago, so my memory of the storyline was a little foggy but after watching the trailer it all came back to me and I am super excited that this book is being adapted to film. If you don’t already know Everything, Everything is a story about Madeline who is allergic to the world so, she hasn’t left her house for seventeen years and has never experienced the wonders of the outside world, that is until she meets Olly and her world is turned upside down.

The casting for this film is just brilliant Amandla Stenberg (The Hunger Games), Nick Robinson (Jurassic World) are, in my eyes the perfect Maddie and Olly and even from the trailer, I am looking forward to seeing more of their on-screen chemistry. From what we’re shown (which was actually a lot of the plot) I can guarantee that I will cry because it just looks so romantic especially when Olly puts pictures of the ocean on her windows which I don’t think happened in the book! I’m so excited for this film and I wish that it was May already! If you haven’t read the book yet then you’ve got plenty of time to read it before watching the film and I highly recommend that you do because it is a beautiful book!

You can watch the trailer here and feel free to leave your reaction in the comments below! We also wrote a review on the book which you can read here!

Beauty and the Beast – Trailer Reaction

beauty-and-the-beast

BLOODY HELL! I am super excited for this film and I wish that it was coming out sooner. Even from the first teaser trailer, the stills they released and cast announcements, I knew that this film was going to be amazing. As soon as I heard the classic Beauty and the Beast song, I almost burst into tears; it’s been too long! Since it’s release, I have watched the trailer way too many times because it is visually stunning with its beautiful special effects, costumes, and cast. Emma Watson as Belle and Luke Evans as Gaston are both perfect matches and I can’t wait to see more of their portrayal on screen. I’ve heard mixed feelings about Lumiere and Cogsworth but in my opinion, I love how quirky and elegant they are however my only dislike is how they’ve made Chip, I just think he looks a bit funny? Is it just me? As for the Beast, I didn’t know what to expect but I’m beginning to warm to him, I just can’t wait for his transformation back into a man because Dan Stevens is pretty good looking! Finally, the parallels between the 1991 and 2017 version were also really satisfying and real as I love how they’ve kept many things the same and we’ll have to wait and see if they add anything new, which I’m secretly hoping that they will. What did you think of the trailer? Are you as excited as we are? Let us know in the comments!

Star Wars: Rogue One, Fantastic Beasts and Suicide Squad – Trailer Reaction

First, I would like to apologise for the length of the title but recently we as fans have been so lucky with all these trailers and it has got me so excited for all the films coming out this year!! Like i’ve said there has been loads of trailers released but i’ve just picked my most anticipated and favourite ones!

Star Wars: Rouge One – December 2016

I am so excited to see this film, as I am a huge Star Wars fan so i’m happy to watch anything Star Wars related. This trailer doesn’t give away to much of the plot instead it introduces a lot of different characters, whether they be heroes or villains. Felicity Jones as  Jyn Erso is what i’m really looking forward to has her character look and sounds like such as badass and an ideal rebel! Diego Luna also stars in the film, as I think as part of Jyn’s team but thats all we know about him yet. I loved Forests Whitaker’s monologue throughout the trailer and I look forward to seeing for of his character as again he to look like such a badass! December 2016 can’t come quick enough!

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them – November 2016

OMG! This film looks so magical! Words can’t describe how excited I am for this film! The cast I think is really interesting and I look forward to seeing how they interact with each other on screen! We finally being to see some of the ‘fantastic beasts’ hidden in Newts suitcase but I like that they’re keeping most of them as a surprise and I’m also looking forward to seeing what the wizarding world is like in the USA and during that time period! Eddie Redmayne, is just perfect for the role of Newt and I’m interested in seeing more of Colin Farrell’s character too. But what top this trailer off the most for me was the Harry Potter themed music in the background; I almost died of nostalgia!

Suicide Squad – August 2016

I know this is the third trailer for this film but it is the best one yet and I am super excited because this looks like such as action packed, badass and also funny movie with a all star cast! What I liked about this trailer was again that we began to see more of the characters and their relationship with each other. I have to admit I am most excited to see Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn as the trailer showed her to have some good lines and action scenes! Jared Leto’s, Joker, I think is also going to be something special and unique; his character is just so captivating! The music choices were also perfect for this trailer and it was nice to see various different action scenes too! Eeeek, i’m so excited for this film!

What’s your most anticipated film release this year? I would love to know so pleased feel free to leave a comment below!

Shadowhunters – Episode Reaction/Review

Amy:

I went into this show with very low expectations but very high hope and I’m pleased to say that I really enjoyed the first two episodes and I’m looking forward to seeing what else they have in store. From the pilot episode, it’s clear they’re not sticking completely to the books but thats something that I like and means that somethings will be left as a surprise.

Let’s start with the positives. Character wise I really liked Simon and Luke the most which was a surprise for me as they were the two characters I was a bit worried about because I still loved Simon and Luke in the film adaptation. Alan Van Sprang as Valentine was perfect, which wasn’t a surprise for me as I loved him in Reign and I thought he played this evil and mad character really well. Mathew Daddario as Alec was also another highlight of the show for me; he’s gorgeous and even though we haven’t heard or see much from him yet but I’m sure as the show continues, we will see more of his character.

I understand that they didn’t have a huge budget for special effects but some of them I thought were a bit poor and didn’t fit in with the show. I also didn’t like how the institute looked like something out of a spy movie and that it was full of other shadowhunters  but this is something I’m sure I’ll get used to it as the show goes on. Again on the lines of locations, I wasn’t a huge fan of the fact that Valentines lair was situated in Chenolbyl; for me I found it a bit odd and unnecessary.

Apart from those two small bits I thought the show was really great and I can’t wait for the next episode!

Eleanor:

It seems as though I have been waiting to for, for ages, but the premiere creeped up on me and I had a fit of excitement when Amy told me about the premiere date! I really didn’t want watch this show with high expectations because I was so worried that I would be disappointed especially as these books do mean an awful lot to me! Not going to lie though all of Wednesday I was really apprehensive about watching it… but luckily I wasn’t too disappointed and I actually enjoyed watching it, there were just a few things that I didn’t really like…

But let’s start with the things that I did like, some of the character portrayals I really liked, Simon, Jace and Alec I though were spot on. I also liked Kat’s portrayal of Clary, I wasn’t sure about her in the role at first but she grew on me throughout the episode, but I have to admit some of the ‘scared’ acting could have been better… I also thought that the aging up of the characters worked well so that the characters can mature a bit more, so there were lots of things that I did like!

However, there were elements that I wasn’t too happy about the main one being that I felt as though Izzy was really sexualised… I know she’s supposed to be stylish and what not but I thought that they went a little too far, plus, there’s no way she could fight in mini skirts that small without showing everyone her lady parts! Similarly, I wasn’t too happy with what they did with the institute, this is probably just be being protective over the books but I did love the fact that it was old, gothic and only contained the Lightwood family and Hodge, but i’m sure i’ll get used to it!

Overall, I did like it and i’m excited for the next few episodes and I hope my negative points will be less negative throughout the coming episodes!

X Men: Apocalypse – Trailer Reaction

This post is a bit late but on Friday the first trailer for ‘X Men: Apocalypse’ was released and it looks amazing!

Brian Singer is back and it looks like he’s made another action packed and badass film. The build up of the action in the trailer is certainly dramatic and from the very beginning of the trailer we are thrown into this action with a vision of the end of the world from Jean Grey. But this is only the beginning as throughout the trailer we are thrown into the action left, right and centre!

Charcter wise we were able to see some familiar faces as well as some new faces like Jean Grey, Cyclopse, Storm, Angel, Jubilee and Nightcrawler (the list is endless) all of whom look totally badass especially in their suits! Another thing I thought was clever was that we never fully see Apocalypse (Oscar Issac) which makes me even more excited to see when the film is released. His ‘four horsemen’ also looked really cool and I can’t wait to see them in action. It looks like Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) again gets a large role in this film thanks to the trailer but I can’t stop seeing her as a blonde Katniss as she takes control in leading all the other young mutants.

I have to admit my favourite scene has to be which looks like the final battle with all the mutants which allows us to witness all their powers and I am positive that Brian Singer will certainly make this scene dramatic and bold with special effects. I hope I wasn’t the only one who freaked out at the end when the doors opened and their was Charles but he was bald!

X Men: Apocalypse is certainly one of many films which I am really excited to see next year when it is released! What did you think?

Star Wars: The Force Awakens – Trailer Reaction

OMG OMG OMG! Yesterday was the best day ever as not only was it my 18th Birthday but it was also the day when the final Star Wars Trailer was released and what a trailer it was! The internet has exploded over the new trailer and I’m certainly not afraid to jump on that wagon and freak out with everyone else!

There was death, destruction and a heck loads of battles which I am really excited to see however with all of this there was no clear plot so nothing was given away; we are all going into the cinema with no idea of what to expect and with a lot of questions which I really liked. The only thing they gave away was that the story was mainly Rey’s (Daisy Ridley) who is a female scavenger on the planet of Jakku and has a similar background to Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), so it will be interesting to find out what her fate will be.

Speaking of Luke Skywalker, he hasn’t yet been seen in the trailer or on the latest poster (which may I add looks epic!) so that has been left as a surprise for the fans, though there is a lot of speculation that he is the man touching R2D2 in the trailer?! Who knows!

It was nice to see Han Solo (Harrison Ford) return in this film and to see that the Jedi and what happened in ‘Return of the Jedi’ are considered as legends! We can see that he has a larger role and acts as a guide for Rey and Fin but again the beauty is we don’t know what they’re looking for or doing! Brilliant. We also get a shot of Han and Leia (Carrie Fisher) together, which will be interesting to see how everything turned out after the last film!

My favourite scenes from the trailer have to be when wee see Rey crying over ‘somebody’ and I’m desperate to find out who! Also we see this movie get a lot darker when we see Poe (Oscar Issac) being tortured…

Overall, if you haven’t guessed already I really enjoyed the trailer and 18th December can’t come fast enough! What did you think of the trailer?! What was your favourite scenes?! Let me know in the comments below.
