Another TikTok inspired post as I’ve seen loads of videos recently of book lovers sharing their list of bookish worlds they’d love to live in, and I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon and join in! We have the holy trinity of fictional worlds (Middle Earth, Narnia and Hogwarts) that I’m pretty sure every book lover would give anything to be apart of, so I tried to think of different worlds you wouldn’t instantly pick!

As I’m writing this I’ve realised that I need more Western fiction in my life? I’m desperate to live out my wild west fantasies and channel my inner lone ranger. I want to read about some badass gunslingers and outlaws riding across open plains, so if you’ve got any recommendations I would be forever grateful!

As always I’d love to know, if given the chance, what fictional world would you want to visit/live in?

Le Cirque des Rêves from The Night Circus By Erin Morgenstern – I don’t think it’s possible to write a post without including this book, everything about it is perfection! The beautifully enchanting world of The Night Circus takes readers by the hand and transports them to a magical escape filled with endless possibilities and wonder. Morgenstern’s evocative writing brings her story to life, making it easy to get happily lost in the pages.

Velaris from A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas – This is probably another location that every book lover would visit if given the chance. Who wouldn’t want to experience the Starfall celebrations, wander along the Sidra River or hang out at The House of Wind?

Alagaësia from The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini – I’d honestly do ANYTHING to be a dragon rider in this world! I know I’ve only read the first book but obsessed with this world and its definitely a series I want to continue exploring next year! I rewatched the film last night and I feel like the only person in the world who doesn’t hate it? Yes there are some areas that aren’t great but you can’t deny that the special effects behind Saphira are epic!

New York Institute from The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare – There are so many institutes I could have chosen but I think my heart will always belong to New York!

Weep from Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor – What makes this world special is Taylor’s imagination and ability to create a unique adventure filled with intricate descriptions and beautiful characterisation. This book was refreshingly unlike anything I’ve read before, the limitless scope of Taylor’s world and perfect strangeness of her characters makes this such a memorable and enchanting read that left me eager for more.

Camelot from King Arthur Legends – This choice is heavily inspired by the BBC show Merlin, and the legendary knights of the round table. This is one of my go-to shows that I can watch over and over again, however I refuse to watch the final two episodes, if I don’t see it then it never happened! It would be the best of both worlds, in the day I would join Merlin and the Knights of Camelot on their wild adventures and then in the evening I’d get myself all glammed up for all the feasts!

The Courts of Faerie from The Cruel Prince by Holly Black – I’d be taking my life into my own hands with this decision, but Black makes this world sound so magical and exciting that I couldn’t resist! As much as I love my food and drink, I’d be sure to stay well away from faerie wine!

The Witchlands from Truthwitch by Sarah Dennard – I read the first book in this series earlier this year and fell in love with the characters and the unique elemental magic system. Again I’ve only read the first book in the series but I’m eager to learn more about the wonderful world Dennard has created! I am however struggling to find the entire series in UK paperback form? Is it just me?
