I wish my horoscope had prepared me for this week, it’s been chaos! But things have calmed down a bit and I’ve finally found the time to write!
I don’t know about you, but I love getting book recommendations and adding more and more books to my overflowing TBR, so I thought I’d combine this style of post with another one of my guilty pleasures, zodiac signs! I’m fascinated with astrology and it’s something I go-to now and then to find a little bit of structure and guidance in my life.
I’m an indecisive and romantic Libra so this list could have easily been a mile long! I had so much fun searching through my bookshelves and Goodreads to find the perfect book for each sign, and I really hope you enjoy it. I’ve been a bit quiet on the blogging scene recently so I wanted to make this post extra special and creative!
Aries (March 21-April 19): Adventurous, Enthusiastic, Reckless and Bold.
As the first sign in the zodiac, the presence of Aries always marks the beginning of something energetic, bold and enthusiastic, so my mind instantly jumped to some of my favourite and most antiquated fantasy reads. Aries signs are always ready to be the hero in any story and just like some of our beloved characters they’re always up for an action-packed adventure.
My Recommendations: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson, The Bone Season by Samatha Shannon, Crescent City by Sarah J Maas, The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang, Jade City by Fonda Lee, A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas
Taurus (April 20-May 20): Patient, Loving, Determined.
Taurus signs are known for being well-grounded and practical people who surround themselves with love and value loyalty. All these books below share theses themes and touch beautifully on the power of friendship and the patient journey of love.
My Recommendations: The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater, Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller, Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins, The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary, A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer, The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
Gemini (May 21-June 20): Adaptable, Intellectual and Cunning.
There are two sides to a Gemini, and you never know which one you’re going to get! They’re sociable and playful with a serious and thoughtful streak that fuels their curiosity and desire to experience everything the world has to offer. Communication and the mind is important to Gemini signs, so I tried to pick imaginative, clever and mysterious storylines that would leave a reader wanting more!
My Recommendations: The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh, A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab, These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong, One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus, Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
Cancer (June 21-July 22): Loyal, Sensitive, Tenacious and Imaginative.
Cancer’s are deeply intuitive, sentimental and loyal to the people they keep close. When you first met them, Cancers can come across as cold or distant, but once you get to know them, you’ll realise that they’re very gentle, compassionate and caring individuals. For this recommendation, I wanted to picked books that packed an emotional punch and valued loyalty, friendship and family, so be sure to have the tissues at the ready for some of these picks!
My Recommendations: Save the Date by Morgan Matson, Out of Love by Hazel Hayes, I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman, Legendborn by Tracy Deonn, Today, Tomorrow, Tonight by Rachel Lynn Solomon, The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
Leo (July 23 -August 22): Generous, Funny, Creative, and Loving.
Leo’s belong to the element of fire, making them warm-hearted and caring individuals who are capable of uniting different groups of people with their brilliant sense of humour. They are the leaders of their pack and are always searching for self awareness and growth. When people think of Leo’s their minds instantly jump to the bold and brave hero, but I think some these charters are just as bold and experience personal adventures of their own.
My Recommendations: To All The Boys I Loved Before by Jenny Han, Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuinston, The Martian by Andy Weir, Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan, Black Flamingo by Dean Atta
Virgo (August 23-September 22): Hardworking, Intelligent, and Reliable.
Virgo’s have that eye for detail and deep sense for humanity. They’re strong characters and someone who prefers organisation and practicality in their everyday life. These characters work extremely hard to achieve their dreams and all deserve their happy endings!
My Recommendations: Illuminae by Amie Kaufman, Fable by Adrienne Young, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, Cinder by Marissa Meyer, Normal People by Sally Rooney, Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
Libra (September 23-October 22): Sincere, Fair, Indecisive and Romantic.
Us Libra’s are indecisive and always have a hard time trying to pick our next read! We are always looking for balance and are romantic people who thrive off passion and enthusiasm. These books are all about tough decisions but it shouldn’t be a difficult decision to add these books to your ever-growing TBR!
My Recommendations: Noughts and Crosses by Malory Blackman, Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Inshiguro, It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover, Scythe by Neal Shusterman, In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren, The Selection by Kiera Cass, The Hating Game by Sally Thorne, We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
Scorpio (October 23-November 21): Determined, Brave, Passionate and Secretive.
One of the most determined and brave signs who are also great at keeping secrets and fuelled by passion. I have so many recommendations for Scorpios, and I think it’s because I secretly identify as Scorpio too!
My Recommendations: The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas, They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera, Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid, The Cruel Prince by Holly Black, Angelfall by Susan Ee, King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo
Sagittarius (November 22-December 21): Optimistic, Intellectual, Restless and Honest.
One of the biggest travellers among the zodiac signs, so a good book that will transport them to different worlds is exactly what they need. Sagittarius are optimistic and enthusiastic individuals who value freedom and exploration.
My Recommendations: Amy and Rogers Epic Detour by Morgan Matson, The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi, The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty, The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow, Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson, Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin, Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender
Capricorn (December 22-January 19): Hardworking, Ambitious and Patient.
Capricorn’s embrace their inner sense of independence and are hardworking and ambitious individuals who will learn from their mistakes. They are masters of self control and have the ability to lead the way.
My Recommendations: Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen, The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson, An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir, All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, Heartless by Marissa Meyer, A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik
Aquarius (January 20-February 18): Loyal, Friendly, Original and Unpredictable.
Aquarius signs are revolutionary and radical, who want to change the world through social progress and visionary thinking. Aquarius-born individuals are loyal and will do anything for their friends and family.
My Recommendations: Red Rising by Pierce Brown, Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, Josh and Hazels Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren, Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman, Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid, When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
Pisces (February 19-March 20): Compassionate, Imaginative, and Selfless.
Pisces is ruled by Neptune, the planet that focuses on creativity and imagination and tend to have a deep focus on escapism through fantasy, and when I read this I knew instantly which books I wanted to recommend! These books are the perfect escape and are home to some of my favourite fictional worlds that just come to life on the page.
My Recommendations: Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor, The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, Caraval by Stephanie Garber, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E.Schwab, Circe by Madeline Miller
I’m a Pisces and oh my goodness – the description couldn’t be more me!! I LOVE escaping into fantasy novels but haven’t read any on your list of recommendations – needless to say I will be adding them though! Love this post!
