7 Books I Want To Re-Read This Year

I’ve never really been one for re-reading books as I narrow-mindedly didn’t see the point of reading a book if you already knew what was going to happen, but after having to re-read a lot of books at university, its fair to say that my mind has been changed. By re-reading a book you notice little details and links that you didn’t the first time round and are able to truly appreciate the authors clever plot twists, subtle hints and intricate storylines! Admittedly there are few books on this list that have totally escaped me and I can barely remember what happened in them, but there are also a few favourites which I want to enjoy all over again. Let me know if you have any re-reads on your TBR in the comments below!

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard –  Years ago this was one of my favourite new series, I remember the epic concept, the loveable characters and of course that ending! But aside from that I don’t remember much else and I’m almost beginning to miss it! I don’t even remember why I stopped reading this series? I blame my HUGE TBR pile!

Eagle in the Sky by Wilbur Smith – This is one of my all-time favourite books and really want to suggest it to my book club, but I feel like I need to re-read it just in case things have changed! Plus it’s been years since I read it and I’m a lot older, I just really hope I still love it as much as I currently do!

Red Rising by Pierce Brown – I totally forgot that I had this book! Everyone continues to rave about how epic this series is and I really want to get back on the bandwagon. I remember the world budding being really intense and heavy, so maybe this is a read for quite day when my brain isn’t so frazzled!

Shadow and Bone/Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo – With the filming of the TV adaptation currently taking place in Budapest, I feel that it’s only right that I re-read this series and re-fresh my memory.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern – Another book that I absolutely adore and want to re-read just for the magical reading experience. Morgenstern includes every element you’d want in a book, a whirlwind romance, a beguiling mystery and peculiar characters that drive the story. If you haven’t read it yet then I highly suggest that you add it to your TBR!

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas – When I first read this book I didn’t love it as much as everyone else, but then fast forward two books later and this has become one of my favourite series ever! I think I rushed reading it last time because I was so excited for a new Sarah J Maas series, so this time I’m going to truly appreciate the reading experience and take things a bit slower.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K Rowling – I got to study the first book for a module at university which was certainly an experience. On the one hand it was great exploring different elements and applying literary movements to the text but there were times when some analysis ruined my innocent perception of a beloved childhood adventure (for example the phallic symbolism behind Harry’s wand!). Anyway, I’ve never re-read the rest of the series and I’m ready for some more magic in my life.
