My Most Anticipated Book to Movie Adaptations

I wrote a post earlier week on 7 books I wanted to see adapted next, so I thought it would be fitting if I wrote a follow-up post about some of my most anticipated adaptations. In this post I’m going to be focusing on films that are currently in development, being filmed or soon to be released this year! I’d love to know what books you’d like to see on the big screen, so please leave us a comment below!

Shadow and Bone/ Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo – Words can’t describe how excited I am about this adaptation, I’m going to have to write an entire post about because there’s so much I need to gush about! The casting is incredible and filming has already started in Budapest!

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E Schwab – I’d love to see this series get the Harry Potter treatment, there’s so much magic and intricate wonder in this series that needs to be shared and carefully adapted by someone who knows what they’re doing! This series was originally going to be a TV series but changed to a film franchise in 2017 with V.E Schwab as one of the producers. As for the choice of writers and producers, we have Derek Kolstad who recently worked on John Wick and the producer of The Fast and Furious franchise, so we defiantly know that all the action scenes are going to be epic!

All The Bright Places by Jenifer Niven – Netflix is seriously killing it at some of its YA adaptations so I’m quietly confident that they’re going to do a good job at adapting this delicate yet powerful read! The trailer looks incredible and it’s clear that a lot of time has been put into this to make it more than just a typical YA film about love. The on-screen chemistry between Elle Fanning and Justice Smith is evidently clear from the trailer and now I’m even more excited, bring on the 28th February.

Dune by Frank Herbert – I’ve mentioned this book a lot recently and its only because I am hugely excited for it as its got all the elements that make a brilliant adaption and sci-fi franchise. I recently purchased the book so hopefully next month I’ll have the opportunity to witness the wonder and adventure first hand.

The Pursuit of Love by Nancy Mitford – Another book I mentioned a lot last year, and I’m so excited that its getting the BBC adaptation treatment! Starring Lily James and directed by Emily Mortimer, I’m quite confident that I’m going to absolutely adore it! The book follows an upper class English family during the war and focuses love, class and relationships, its a classic light-hearted storyline that audiences will love.

They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera – HBO and J J Abrams have both signed on to adapt this book as a TV series, and its safe to say I’m serious excited!

Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman – Another book that has been adapted by the BBC and just from the trailer I can tell that it’s going to be a hit. I remember reading this gripping story of first love in a dangerous, alternative world where racism divides story when I was younger so I might have to do a re-read before the 5th March!

Chaos Walking: The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness – I totally forgot about this film and I can’t think why because it has such a good cast! Starring Tom Holland AND Daisy Ridley this film already looks epic and we haven’t even got a trailer yet! I will admit I haven’t read these books yet but it’s definitely on my TBR list (along with lots of other series!
