These books are full of action, easy to read and are soon becoming one of my all time favourites. How could you not love this series, it has unique and exciting characters and a dramatic storyline which never fails to keep you on the edge of your seat!
Injured and on the run, it has been seven days since June and Day barely escaped Los Angeles and the Republic with their lives. Day is believed dead having lost his own brother to an execution squad who thought they were assassinating him. June is now the Republic’s most wanted traitor. Desperate for help, they turn to the Patriots – a vigilante rebel group sworn to bring down the Republic. But can they trust them or have they unwittingly become pawns in the most terrifying of political games?
The book picks off right were we left off and we are thrown straight back into the action and the adventure. That’s one thing that this book isn’t lacking as behind every chapter there is more drama and kick ass action scenes that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. The ending was also amazing but also heart-breaking as Lu left us on a serious cliff hanger which tore my heart out. We were also able to explore more of the world Lu has created, the way it is structured and it was a nice surprise to pay a visit to the colonies!
We also saw more June and Day interaction and I totally ship them together even more now in this book; the way they care for each other warms my heart. The dual perspective again worked really well and after each chapter I was left on cliff hanger waiting for more. Tess annoyed me a bit in this book, thanks to her jealous outbreaks and mood-swings but I loved seeing her character development and how she’s become such an important role within the patriots. Kaede was also another great addition, we were able to see a bit of her in the book but we really got to know her in the second and I was pleased that we were also able to see her flying skills in action! Finally, character wise I enjoyed getting to know Anden more and I look forward to seeing more of him and his actions in the next book!
I have fallen even more in love with this series and it is easy to give it 5/5 stars because it is so captivating and wonderful with Lu’s fluent writing style, lovable characters and dramatic storyline! If you haven’t pick up the first book in the series, I highly recommend that you do as it is such an amazing series and I will leave the link to my review for ‘Legend’ here!
