Soundtrack To My Life Book Tag

Thank you Charley @bookinnerd who nominated us for this tag and I recommend you go and check out her blog. I haven’t seen this tag before but when I read the questions I thought that it was such a good idea and couldn’t wait to get on and answer the questions! So lets get on with the tag…

Opening Credits: favourite childhood book:

Amy: ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’ by Michael Morpurgo. I don’t know what it was about this book but I just remember loving this book and always raving about it!

Eleanor: How young are we talking here? Because my favourite children’s book from when I was really young is hands down ‘The Gruffalo’! I used to get my dad to read it to me every night before I went to bed and by the time I was about 6/7 years old I could recite all the words!

Waking up: A book that got you out of a reading slump:

Amy: ‘The Selection’ Series. These books are so easy to read that I could happily pick up any book from the series and it would throw me out of my reading slump. But I’m currently suffering from a reading slum myself and I’ve already read all the books in the series, so if anyone has any good recommendations please let me know!

Eleanor: This is actually really recent! The book that has got me out of a serious reading slump has been ‘The Darkest Minds’ by Alexandra Bracken, it is so exciting and I’m currently reading the second book (which has already been reviewed) but I got the third for my birthday so all is good!

School: A book that you ended up reading for school and ended up loving it:

Amy: It’s more a play than a book but I picked ‘The Crucible’ which is a play we had to study for GCSE English. For those who don’t know it is a play about the Salem Witch Trials that took place in Massachusetts during 1692 and 1693. Again, I don’t know why I loved this play but I reckon it was because of the ideas of witches and the mystery behind everything.

Eleanor: I don’t think I have ever loved a book that I had to read in school, but one that I remember that wasn’t too bad was ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar.

Falling In Love: An author you love so much you want to read all of their books:

Amy: Sarah J Maas!! I can complet a tag without mentioning her name, as I just love her work and writing so much! Plus who’s excited for ‘A Court of Mist and Fury’!! I know I am!

Eleanor: Now this is an interesting question, because at first I was going to say Cassandra Clare, but I honestly don’t know if I would read a book by Cassie that isn’t in the Shadowhunter world… So I’m going to have to agree with my partner in crime here and say Sarah J Maas.

Fight: Book with the best action sequences:

Amy: Sorry for mentioning Sarah J Maas again but the book with the best fight scenes has to be any book in the ‘Throne Of Glass’ Series as each book is packed full of action and never leaves a dull moment!

Eleanor: I can’t decide here between ‘Throne of Glass’ (plus the rest of the series) and ‘The Mortal Instruments’, they both have some kick ass fighting scenes, but I always skim over the fight scenes so quickly because they’re always so fast paced!

Break up: A book or series you didn’t finish and do not intend to finish:

Amy: ‘Gone’ Series by Michael Grant. I didn’t even make it half way into the first book but it just wasn’t my cup of tea!

Eleanor: Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. I really didn’t enjoy the first book and I have no intention whatsoever to finish it.

Hanging with friends: A book that you think everyone should read:

Amy: I restrained myself from mentioning Sarah J Maas again but instead I chose ‘Life on the Refrigerator Door’ by Ali Kuipers which is such an incredible book which no doubtfully make you cry!

Eleanor: Everyday by David levithan, this was such a lovely book and it has a really strong message about how we should never judge a book by its cover!

Breakdown: Book that seriously affected you or had you crying your eyes out:

Amy: ‘Second Chance Summer’ by Morgan Matson. From reading the first chapter in this book I knew I was going to end up crying at the end which I did, and I cried a lot! And to make it even worse I was on the plane coming home from a holiday so everyone kept looking at me! Oh the struggles!

Eleanor: ‘If You Find Me’ by Emily Murdoch, this book really shocked and touched me! It was so intimate and touched on some serious subjects which were wrote in a beautiful way!

Road Trip: Your favorite series (more than 3 books):

Amy: Throne of Glass Series!! I’m sorry that I keep mentioning this book, but seriously if you haven’t read this series yet what are you doing with your life!!

Eleanor: I think this is fairly obvious, ‘The Mortal Instruments Series’ without a doubt!

Flashback: Your favorite book from 5 years ago:

Amy: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Certainly one of my favourites from the series and I remember my younger self feeling so proud when I finished that book!

Eleanor: Can we argue that ‘The Hunger Games’ was 5 years ago? It must be because I read it when I was 12/13 and I’m now 18… so The Hunger Games!

Getting Back Together: A book you can’t stop rereading:

Amy: ‘Eagle in the Sky’ by Wilbur Smith. This is my favourite book in the whole entier world; it’s just perfect. Even though I know what happens, this book never fails to make me smile or cry waterfalls!

Eleanor: I do find it hard to re-read books, so I don’t think there are many books that I’ve read more than once, although I have to admit that the Harry Potter books never get old!

Moment of Triumph: Longest book you’ve ever read:

Amy: ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ by George R R Martin. That is a big ass book!

Eleanor: It must be ‘City of Heavenly Fire’ by Cassandra Clare which is the last book in ‘The Mortal Instruments’ series, and fun fact, I read all 700+ pages in 4 days! (which is a record for me because I am a very slow reader!

Death Scene: Book or series you wish had ended differently:

Amy: ‘Allegiant’ by Veronica Roth. It sounds mean but I found the last book really disappointing and as much as I want to watch the movie adaptation, it looks really poor and completely different to the books!

Eleanor: ‘Paper Towns’ by John Green, it was just a bit rubbish wasn’t it? (well in my opinion any way)

Funeral: Book with the best or worst epilogue:

Amy: ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ by J K Rowling. Some people were disappointed with the ending but I thought it was a perfect ending to a perfect series and I can’t wait for ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’!

Eleanor: I quite like epilogues because I am a massive sucker for a happy ending! So I’m going to leave this one to my good friend Amy here because, in my opinion, there is never a bad epilogue.
