I received this book from Net Galley in exchange for a honest review.
This book was so cute! I loved all of its character especially little George who just melted my heart and it’s cheesy (but the right amount of cheese) storyline.
The Garretts are everything the Reeds are not. Loud, messy, affectionate. And every day from her rooftop perch, Samantha Reed wishes she was one of them . . . until one summer evening, Jase Garrett climbs up next to her and changes everything.
The storyline was wonderful; It was romantic, funny, sweet and dramatic. I knew there was going to be a plot twist but I wasn’t expecting what actually happened and I thought that it was a really clever idea which not only made the characters think but we as the reader too. Plus it was a really easy read which I whizzed through in no time.
Every character was perfect in my eyes and I didn’t think I disliked any character (apart from Clay he was an arse). Sam’s character development was fab and I really liked how we saw her go out of her comfort zone and was able to be happy and free! She stands up for herself and the people she cares about when it counts most, she thinks independently from her main influence in life (in this case, her mother) in a way that is smart and not just teenage rebellion.
Jase is certainly one of the sweetest and kindest characters ever! And his relationship with Sam was loving, enjoyable and a relationship everyone dreams of having. They were responsible with everything they did, as I really liked that, especially when they were exploring their sexuality which I though was really important for readers. The wit, humour and banter between these characters was another aspect I really enjoyed and I thought the condom conversation was priceless!
Tim is another character who at first I thought was a total idiot but instead he went from looser to saviour and by the end of the book was another one of my favourite characters. The Garrett’s in general were brilliant especially George who never failed to make me smile and laugh; he was just a bundle of joy who I loved reading about.
The only reason I give this book 4.5 stars instead of 5/5 was because of the ending as I felt it was really sudden and that it didn’t wrap everything up but that didn’t stop it from being an enjoyable read!
Overall, it was an enjoyable and easy read which made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. If your looking for something cute, romantic and easy to read then this book is perfect for you!
Apologies, for how recently most of the books I’ve read have been from Net Galley, I can promise you that soon I will go back to reading ‘proper’ books!
